Toyota to take the fight to Ferrari with updated Le Mans race car in 2026
Toyota is planning to challenge Ferrari’s reign at Le Mans with an updated version of the GR010 Hybrid. The new racing car will make its track debut in 2026.
Toyota had been dominating the Le Mans 24 Hours before Ferrari returned to the top class in 2023. Since then, the Maranello outfit has won three titles on the trot with its 499P LMH machine. Toyota Gazoo Racing is hoping to break this winning streak next year.
A set of teaser images released by Toyota provides a hint of what we can expect to see on the track. The updated GR010 features a new aerodynamics package. It has a redesigned front end with horizontal sweptback LED headlights, full-width LED taillights, and a new rear wing.
Currently, Toyota uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The exact technical details of its new WEC contender are not yet known.
The updated Toyota GR010 Hybrid will be seen on track for the first time at Circuit Paul Ricard on October 8, as part of a testing session.
