One-off Ferrari SC40 is inspired by the legendary F40
Ferrari has revealed its latest one-off creation under its Special Projects programme. The new Ferrari SC40 draws inspiration from the legendary F40.
The Ferrari SC40 is based on the 296 GTB. It uses the same chassis and comes with a mid-rear-mounted twin-turbo V6 engine.

You will find several hints of the F40 in the exterior design of the new SC40. The first thing we noticed was the rear wing, which even has the SC40 script engraved in relief just like on the F40. The flat rear fascia is also a nod to the 1980s supercar.

The nose section has a flat profile with a black element that extends from the headlamp clusters and wraps around the front fascia.

The rear engine cover opens in the same fashion as that of the F40. Even the panel gap has been replicated. Ferrari says the white exterior colour was specifically developed for this car.

There have been mixed views about the latest designs coming out of Maranello. It all started with the LaFerrari successor – the F80, and more recently, the 849 Testarossa. What are your thoughts on the SC40?
