Next Mercedes-AMG C63 with 6-cylinder engine coming soon
Mercedes downsized the powertrain on its current-generation AMG C63 S E Performance from a V8 unit to a 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain. However, now the German carmaker has confirmed that it will be dropping the 4-cylinder powertrain on the model’s next-generation iteration.
Mattias Geisen, board member for sales & marketing at Mercedes, confirmed that the new-generation AMG C63 will come with a 3.0-litre straight six engine. He stated, “We will have some options where we had a four-cylinder, which will also be available as a six-cylinder going forward. There may or may not be a hybrid, it might be pure-ICE, maybe. We’ll let you know when we’re there.”
Mattias though, kept clear of an official timeline on the arrival of the performance variant of the next-generation C-Class. The straight-six engine on the upcoming AMG C63 is already available on the larger E53 AMG, which, paired with a plug-in hybrid, produces 603 BHP. The introduction of the 3.0-litre straight-six powertrain aligns the next-generation AMG C63 with its closest rivals from Audi and BMW.
Mercedes-Benz is all set to unveil its new-generation C-Class. The brand even teased the EV C-Class sedan at the recently concluded IAA Mobility Show 2025.
