Ford Mustang Hybrid rumoured to be in development
Ford Motor Company, back in 2020, had announced their plans to introduce a hybrid version of the Mustang. However, the company never went forward with the same. Now though, fresh reports suggest that the American car giant is developing an S650 Ford Mustang Hybrid.
The report states that the new Mustang Hybrid, internally codenamed S650E, is “in operation”. The S650E prototypes are said to have entered the Technology Prove-out stage, which translates to the fact that mules are being tested with some form of electrification.
No other details of the upcoming vehicle have been revealed, including whether the car will feature a traditional or plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Back in 2023, Jim Farley had indicated that while the all-electric version of the iconic muscle car probably will not happen, a “partially electrified” version was a strong possibility. The Mustang Hybrid also aligns with Ford’s plan to hybridise every one of its ICE models by 2030.
